Why Your Product Pages Aren't Showing Price and Rating in Google
August 13, 2026

Have you ever searched for your own product on Google and noticed that a competitor’s listing has star ratings and pricing displayed right in the search results, while yours is just a plain blue link?

You’re not imagining it, and it’s not simply bad luck. In many cases, the problem comes down to a technical issue on your website that’s preventing Google from properly understanding and displaying your product information.

What Are Those Price and Rating Snippets?

Those extra details you sometimes see under a Google search result  star ratings, review counts, prices, or even whether a product is in stock aren’t there by accident. They’re known as rich results or rich snippets.

Google gets this information from structured data added to your website. For product pages, this is usually done using Schema markup, particularly Product schema, which helps Google understand important details about what you’re selling.

Think of structured data as a translator between your website and Google. Your page might clearly show “₹1,499” and “4.5 stars” to a visitor, but Google doesn’t interpret a webpage exactly like a human does.

Without the right code behind the scenes, Google may not understand that “₹1,499” is the product price or that those 4.5 stars represent a customer rating. When that information isn’t clearly marked up, Google may simply ignore it and leave those useful details out of the search results.

The Most Common Reasons This Goes Wrong

1. Missing or Incomplete Structured Data

This is the most common reason. Most of the websites have no product schema. If any website having schema will be in complete. Important fields like price, price currency, aggregate rating, review will be missing.

2. Errors in Your Schema Code

Even though structured data is entered in website, a small comma mistake in JSON  LD Code will also cause a big issue.Google’s parsers are very strict. A small syntax error also cause chance to ignore markup by google.

3. Reviews Aren’t Marked Up Correctly

Having genuine customer reviews on your page isn’t enough.Google must markup those reviews using  proper aggregate rating , review schema. Review count, star rating must be clearly visible in the page. Moreover, values in schema should be match and reflect in the page. The common reason for suppressed snippets are mismatch or hidden reviews.

4. Violating Google’s Structured Data Guidelines

Google has strict quality guidelines.Google may stop showing rich results even if the code is technically correct  but  the markup rating is not matching with visitors page rating ,manipulated reviews, fake or self served.

5. Google Simply Chooses Not to Show It

Most of the people don’t realise that rich results are not guaranteed if we have structured data.Google considers as a suggestion not a command. We can skip showing  Google snippet  if your page is lack in authority, thin content, or else schema data is not matching properly with visible content  in page.

6. Product Not Eligible for Merchant Listings

Especially for shopping-related searches, on page schema alone may not be enough to get a rich result. If your website isn’t connected to Merchant Centre, your prices may not qualify for certain types of search snippets.

How to Fix It

  • Audit your schema : Use Google Rich Result Test Tools for finding out errors.
  • Add complete Product schema: including price, currency, availability, and aggregate rating fields.
  • Match visible content to markup: never show a rating in code that isn’t genuinely visible on the page.
  • Collect real customer reviews and mark them up correctly.
  • Set up Google Merchant Center :If it’s e commerce business, it will be helpful for shopping related rich results.
  • Monitor Regularly: Track structured data issues by checking Google Search Console Enhancements report.

The Bigger Picture

Rich snippets aren’t just cosmetic. The users in listings those who have star rating and pricing are getting instant trust before entering into the website.Studies show that these listings often get higher click-through rates because users feel more confident clicking on them.
